Urgent Need

Funding Cuts Will Impact Our Customers and Clients

Dear Friends,

We don’t often send messages like this, but today we have an urgent request.

The majority of the 350+ individuals we support through our Residential and Vocational programs rely on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to keep their refrigerators and pantries stocked.

We’ve just learned that state funding will not be available to offset the loss of these benefits. In previous shutdowns, our partners at Developmental Disabilities Community Services (DDCS – formerly DDA) helped bridge that gap — but this time, there is no safety net.

For the people we support, this means choosing between healthcare and hunger. It means deciding whether to buy medication or groceries. For some, it means there will be no food at all.cMany of our clients live with complex medical and dietary needs, for instance:

  • People with diabetes who rely on carefully planned meals to avoid dangerous health complications.
  • Individuals with Crohn’s disease who could experience severe flare-ups without access to prescribed foods.
  • Clients following allergy-safe or FODMAP diets where substitutions are not viable.

Our work at Cascade Connections is to help people with disabilities live independently and thrive, but we cannot do that alone.

How you can help today:

1. Donate directly via our website:

(select “Use funds where needed most”)

2. Donate directly via our VENMO: @cc-donate

3. Donate Non-Perishable Food: We are establishing an emergency pantry to ensure that every person we support has access to safe, nutritious food during this time. Click here to learn more about how to contribute.

4. Donate Visa or Grocery Gift Cards: Donation of Visa or Grocery Gift Cards will go directly to support individuals impacted by this loss of funding. Click here to learn more about how to contribute.

Your generosity will help ensure that the most vulnerable members of our community have access to the resources they need to live safely, healthfully and with dignity.

Wishing you and your family the best during these uncertain times.
