Class Description:
Designed for caregivers who have completed Nurse Delegation Core training, this hybrid course surveys the definition, symptoms, and health impacts of diabetes. Students learn the the factors that affect blood sugar and the role of insulin in controlling diabetes. Enrollees learn how to identify and respond to low and high-blood-sugar symptoms and how to inject insulin safely. This course clarifies the HCA/NAC/NAR’s role in helping a client manage diabetes safely. Course materials must be picked up at least one week prior to the test and be completed and returned by the test date. Students will have a short lecture and the opportunity to ask questions before taking the test. Prerequisite: Nurse Delegation Core Training
This is a self-study class with a required in-person test. After students complete the self-study, they will come in for a two-hour workbook check and test by appointment.
