Class Description:
This hybrid course is designed for caregivers who have completed the Nurse Delegation Core training. Topics include what diabetes is, impacts on a person’s health, the symptoms of low and high blood sugar and what to do, the HCA/NAC/R’s role in helping a client manage diabetes safely, the role of insulin controlling diabetes, factors that affect blood sugar, and the steps to inject insulin safely. Course materials must be picked up at least one week prior to the test, be completed, and returned on the test date. Students will have a short lecture and the opportunity to ask questions before taking the test. Prerequisite: Nurse Delegation Core Training
This is a self-study class with a required in-person test. After students complete the self-study, they will come in for a two-hour workbook check and test by appointment.
